BEAUTY ADVENT 2017 // DAY #25: The best concealer I have ever used
Good tidings one and all! How early were you up this morning? 🙂
Today is my last post and I have deliberately saved the best til last! If you have ever struggled to find a concealer that will not crease or dry out the under eye area and actually does the job of concealing dark circles, do I have a treat for you.
A friend and expert facialist who took on a job at Claridge’s spa first told me about the Sisley concealer in the way Les Dawson used to dress up as a woman and gossip under his breath. She asked me if I had tried it, raised one eyebrow upon hearing I had not yet had the pleasure and then gave me a look which said ‘well, you are missing out’. Later that year I gave some talks at Liberty and included it in my top 10 must-have business makeup items for time-poor women. My friend had been right. It is sensational and in my humble opinion (at present) unparalleled.
You only need a grain sized amount to cover both under eye areas. There are four shades in the range and the lightest (No 1) has a salmony-pink hue which corrects dark circles perfectly on Caucasian skin tones.
I apply one thin layer for day and an extra layer if I have an important day ahead and need to look on peak form. For evening I tend to use a light layer of the Sisley followed by something more full coverage (like this one from Bobbi Brown).
There are times when I am completely wowed by a product, when I can find no flaw with it. This is one of those times. I have been using it for well over a year and every time I go back to something else I am instantly reminded as to why the Sisley is such a cut above the rest. It is an investment piece, certainly, but I would much rather spend money on high performing base products (foundations, concealers, tinted moisturisers) which help me look awake and vital, and save on colour (lips, eyes etc). If you get the right colour match (and if it comes in a colour suited to your skin tone), you will not look back!
How much is it:
£63.00 (I know, I know…BUT when I tell you I was lucky enough to be gifted a tube on my birthday in August last year, that I have used it every day since and IT IS STILL GOING STRONG?! Think value per wear 🙂
Where can I buy it:
Liberty, Selfridges, John Lewis, sisley-paris.com, Harrods etc.
Who is it for:
I use shade 01 which I would say is good for anyone with pale to light Caucasian skin. Shade 2 works well on Asian skin tones and 3 and 4 on deeper skin tones though 4 will be too light on very deep skin tones (come on Sisley! More shades of this wonder product please).
UNTIL NEXT YEAR!
I hope you have enjoyed my Beauty Advent Calendar for 2017. I have certainly loved writing it. Personally it has been a terrific challenge to get me writing and posting everyday. It has inspired me to continue writing and improving my content in 2018.
Here is a look back at my Top 25:
Which were your favourite products? I would love to know!
My special thanks to poppyloves.co.uk for the loan of the camera.
There was one product I had to swap out from the original 25 which was Kypris 1000 Roses (in the middle of writing this advent I moved house and could no longer find it! Classic). This magnificent face oil featured in Caroline Hirons’ Cult Beauty skincare box back in 2016 (which I treated myself to). As face oils go, it was spectacular. It ain’t cheap (an eye watering £86.00 for 14ml and £216.00 for 47ml) but my LORD is it heavenly.
The swap out product was Rimmel’s Insta Fix & Matte which to be honest, could easily have been in the original 25.
Coming up tomorrow…
Nada! Haha. We are done! Thanks so much for tuning in. I have loved your comments on Instagram and Facebook.
